Implanon Insertion and Removal

The contraceptive implant is a tiny rod which is inserted under the skin of the upper left arm to provide 3 years of contraceptive protection.

If you require the Implanon insertion the doctor will provide you with a prescription during your first consultation. Please ensure that you bring the injection on your next appointment.

Your doctor will remove the implant after it has been in place for 3 years, or at any time prior to this if the contraceptive effect is no longer required. Fertility returns soon after removal of the implant. You will need a 15 minute initial consultation with your doctor to discuss the contraception options.

Please inform our reception team, if you require an initial appointment with the doctor or an insertion/ removal procedure.
